A Home for Essence Place
A note from the Pastors
We are overjoyed to share a BIG update for Essence Place! This last Sunday, Pastor Brad and Pastor Christan were able to announce:
“Essence Place has a new home!”
Just off the intersection of Farmington Ave and Prospect Ave, on the town line between West Hartford and Hartford, is the new location for Essence Place!
This leased space will provide a 24/7 location for Essence Place’s Sunday services, church office, church events, community impact, and more. Moreover, the space is move in ready! Another church had been meeting in the location and made a significant investment to renovate the entire space. New ceilings, flooring, chairs, and fresh paint. This church has also volunteered for their sound and video equipment to remain in the space to assist with our transition. We could not be more grateful for God’s provision!
Stemming from God’s call through the prophet, Jeremiah, we shared the invitation given to the Israelites to, “And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.” (Jeremiah 29:7)
Many of you heard us share during the beginning of Essence Place, God gave us a vision of both a church AND a center for the community. This location and 24/7 access will facilitate a greater level of community care and impact and we cannot wait to get started. We seek to help people, through the work of Christ, restore the path back to their Creator. We see this happening week after week, and know God has so much more in store!
God has called Essence Place to build a bridge between these two cities and be a bridge-builder for every race, socioeconomic status, culture, and background. As we were negotiating the lease for the space, we realized the location is literally on the town line between West Hartford and Hartford. This is the beautiful way God works! We want to stay aligned with God’s vision for EP, and we are confident God has provided the next step forward.
As we have said many times, with change comes loss and challenges. We are not naïve to think everything will go perfectly or smoothly. Things can feel uncertain at times and simultaneously exciting; nevertheless, we know through it all God is not only with us but leading us!
It is common for a church plant in New England to not become self-supporting until around years three or four. New churches rely on outside funding for the first several years as the internal giving grows. We want to invite you to consider continued regular missions giving and/or a special offering that you can designate for our new “Building Fund". This will provide Essence Place the funds for things like a sign for the building, tables/office furniture, small equipment, and a few final renovations that need to be done.
Please be praying for this important move into a new season!
